That’s a picture of me and Dee of Chocobay and Beijing Travel Bug, who’s based in Singapore already. What a reunion over at the MRT Station!
…anyways… I’m back!
I’ve had the time of my life in Singapore, thanks to my dear friends who have taken time off their rest days to show us around town! Also thanks to Tin for being the ultimate backpacker that can live in an unknown city even if armed with just a map! ( Woohoo ! ) Anyway, let me tell you about the way I saw Singapore - which is such a beauty addict’s absolute heaven!

First of all, Singapore’s just FULL of malls! Every stop of the public transport MRT is either connected to a mall, or at least when you get out of the station, there are more malls to greet you! Starting at the Bugis area which our hotel was, there was Bugis Junction, to City Hall’s malls, Suntec, and my favorite stop of all - Orchard Road! Orchard Road has THE BEST malls, but I can only remember some because they house really nice beauty brands!
One observation about Singapore is that aside from having alot of malls, skin care products are really really hot items there. Anti-aging, whitening, and basic skin care are flocked by people there. There are also brands that are not found in our country that are making waves there - Biotherm, Beaute de Kose ( we have Kose, but not the cosmetic brand ), Benefit ( which is just starting to get big there ), Stila ( I LOVE! ), Eau Thermal Avene, ~H20, Make Up Store, Bourjois, Silky Makeup, L’Oreal for Men ( skincare ), Lancaster, Anna Sui Cosmetics, Shiseido Maquillage, Eucerin, La Roche-Posay and sooo much more! Brands that are big there are Chanel, Estee Lauder, Shu Uemura, and Lancome which I can see in almost every department store that I check out! Kiehls is also big there, as well. There’s SASA in Bugis Junction and Wisma Atria, and I thought SASA can only be found in Hongkong! But if they have alot, they also don’t have Max Factor and Covergirl Cosmetics ( as per Renee ). I wasn’t also able to see Smashbox there.
For MAC Cosmetics, Singapore is very much updated with the collections, at least, being a frontrunner in Asia. I’ve read in the Beauty Blackbook Magazine that Cool Heat is poised to be launched already, and Neo Sci-Fi Collections are slowly making their way out, hence, some items out of stock. I’ve found MAC Cosmetics only in two malls ( as far as my eyes could see ) - Tang’s and Isetann’s in Orchard Road ( see why it’s my favorite place? ) Tang’s Plaza in Orchard also happened to be my meeting place of choice with my long-time email buddy and beauty blogger friend, Renee of Beautyfool ( before, blogging for Blog for Beauty ) . Yay! I’m so happy that I have finally met her in person. She’s gorgeous and very very nice. Would you believe she’s only 19?

I also have new friends from the MAC Cosmetics counter! I swear, these people know their stuff. In the Philippines, I love MAC makeup artists because they are very skilled in makeup application and know their products well, and I can just say that same goes for Singaporean MAC makeup artists! I chatted with Kenneth and Sara about the products that are only available in Singapore ( Lightful foundation ), learned that Mattene did not make its debut in Asia at all, and found more nice products there! ( which I will be posting very soon! ). To add, they’re very very friendly, all smiles, and warm!

Overall, I love, love, love, Singapore! Even if it’s humid and made my hair all poofy, even if it’s draining for my wallet, the major eye candies, never-ending sights of beauty products are luring me, luring me, luring me! If only I can save up again to go there!
…one last thing. I’ve noticed that alot of Singaporeans love black eyeshadow, smoky eyes, and eyelining ( and it’s not a thin line! ). Well, that was just an observation, maybe because there are alot of girls of Chinese descent there and eyelining is the best technique to open up the eyes! Oh, what a beautiful country ! I love it!
Tata for now!

Singapore is indeed a shopper’s and beauty’s haven! It’s just too bad that i fell in love with MAC too late, when i was already based in Manila after getting based in Singapore for almost 2 years. Staff at Tangs are indeed the nicest, whatever counter you inquire they will entertain you. And oh, MAC also has a counter inside Takashimaya near Mango.
i miss that part of Singapore! and the hassle-free commuting too! like you i love Orchard Road the most too haha!
and oh, NYX is also available in SG! hope you got some.
Achi Soph! Super gorgeous ng makeup mo!
Nako. I wonder why I wasn’t THAT into makeup 2 years ago when we were in Singapore! Sayang! HAHAHAH!
P.S. Renee’s so pretty! Kainggit skin niya!
accckk welcome back!!!!!! *hugs* Nice to see you back and I’m sure you had a great trip! YOu looked so pretty !!! Obviously, you had a great time and shopped a lot huh???
Mheann : I didn’t really check out Takashimaya very much but I ate at their foodcourt! bwahahaha!
I totally missed NYX! I couldn’t see them in department stores so I settled for Bourjois, which I am about to post a review of. Gorgeous eye colors.
Jenn : Super thanks!
What were you doing in SG two years ago? Vacation ?
Nikki : thanks!
Well….I’m about to post my loot! It’s surprisingly small
Welcome back, Sophie! =P

Thanks for sharing the information. I feel that everyone reading your blog will now be interested to visit Singapore.
Tara : Thanks thanks!
Nikki : Yep, super worth it to buy Bourjois. I’m making my friend Dee buy me the stretch ones and collect them! It’s on sale @ Robinsons!
