One cause of these losses is an alarming phenomenon called Colony Collapse Disorder, or “CCD.” When a hive experiences CCD, the honey bees mysteriously leave their hive and die. CCD symptoms were reported by more than 35 states across the United States and in many other countries.

The Giant Japanese Hornet is on average three inches long and shoots flesh-melting acid that contains a pheromone that attracts every other hornet in the hive. They can fly 50 miles in a day and live just outside of Tokyo! Ouch!

15 BILLION! That’s a lot of money. :0 I didn’t realize how important honey bees are.
