Here’s me, looking like a royal mess beside theatre and TV royalty Aiza Seguerra. Gosh, but I don’t care! Look - I posted the picture, anyway! ( Thanks Jheng for taking it! )
Well, right after our class, we rushed to the RCBC Plaza immediately to do our on-the-job-training stint for MAC Cosmetics. We were to assist Zeldy( who looked like Pops Fernandez, btw ), makeup artist of MAC for the Shangri-la branch. Thinking that it was a fashion show, I got all nervous and brought along Beth Bender’s smoky eye stencil with me just in case of an artist’s block. But when we went there, we realized that it wasn’t a fashion show. It was a play - Avenue Q, the only play that I was wishing to watch!
Jheng did Joel Trinidad’s makeup, while I was tasked to make Aiza Seguerra darker, thus, the NC50 shade on her. I started using foundation brush to apply, but I thought I was taking too long because I was trying to be careful to make the coverage even since it was a very far color from Aiza’s skin. When Aiza excused herself for a last-minute rehearsal, I quickly asked Zeldy why it seemed uneven. She whipped up her MAC 187 brush and said, “this is the trick.” At that moment I felt so braindead that I wasn’t able to think of that! So as Aiza came back, I used my MAC 187 brush on her for liquid foundation application and boy did it cut the application time in half ( or even more! ).
So , lesson learned during this great opportunity I just had? Stippling brushes are heaven sent. Spray mist right before blending the liquid foundation for longer build-up time ( before the liquid foundation dries ). I better not forget them!
