Havaianas Loves Beauty-ful Girls!

I’m supposed to post something else today but something in my inbox caught my attention. And made me shriek. Yes, shriek of joy.

I’m a self-confessed flip flops fanatic and I would rather go to work wearing Havaianas than high-heeled shoes. Of course, that isn’t possible, but a girl can dream, right?

Havaianas , this coming June, would feature beauty brand designs such as Trish McEvoy, Laura Mercier, and Bobbi Brown! I’m featuring it in my new flip flops blog, FlipFlopCrazy. I’m not supposed to show this because I’m not yet on my tenth post but you my readers can have a sneak peak on its first post! heehee!

Happy weekend, everyone!

Artistry Is Official Makeup Partner for Philippine Fashion Week 2008

Last May 25th marked the opening ceremony of the Philippine Fashion Week 2008, at the SMX Hall 3, Mall of Asia, Manila. The theme of this year’s fashion week, now on its second year, is “Glimpses : A Dawn of a New Decade.” It was my first time to attend Fashion Week, as I was very excited, anticipating, and waiting for Ford Supermodel, and Filipino pride Charo Ronquillo grace the runway!

Aside from my first time to see a runway ( which is going to be the runway for the best in the Philippine Fashion Industry from tomorrow til Tuesday that is, ), I was also able to see beautiful makeup being strutted on the runway. Thanks to Artistry Cosmetics by Amway International, official and exclusive makeup partner for the Philippine Fashion Week, I was able to see Calcarrie models sport beautiful neutrals, softly lined eyes ( I’m guessing they’re pencil-lined ), and washes of green, yellow, and fuschia on the eyelids. Nothing too wild, everything sophisticated and classy. Just the way to start Philippine Fashion Week! I look forward into exploring and checking out Artistry Cosmetics, I’d be posting about it in the coming entries!

First, let’s see some Fashion Week Opening pictures!

Makeup School Escapades : “The Prime Look”

How do you like it? :)

Yesterday was our first hands-on session for our makeup class. I went to class, a little bit sad because I haven’t bought a decent traincase for me. I went in with all my makeup housed in a green SM Supermarket Save the World bag ( those earth-friendly bags ), but of course, armed with a beautiful model - my sister Suzie, with eyebrows untouched since birth, which was the challenge for the day.

For the session, we discussed about the basics - skin care, parts of the face, parts of the eye, and we started doing makeup for a prime look. The “prime look” is the most basic of all makeup looks, and is described as a simple, everyday made-up look. The aim of the “prime look” is to look fresh, and not to draw attention on one part of the face ( such as the eyes, lips, ), so no overpowering shades, just simple, everyday shades. We were able to use medium browns and champagne colored shades for the eyes, matte pink, coral, and apricot shades for the blush, and the universal pink lipstick - which can be worn by anyone. Pink-brown is the shade that can look good on almost everyone. The people from the MAC counter recommends Twig, while my teacher RB looks at Cosmo as the universally flattering pink shade.

Tarte Cosmetics’ Health Couture for Spring and Summer Collection!

No doubt, Tarte has got to be one of my favorite brands. Their cosmetics are just fab, and they’ve been all the more endearing in my heart when they started their Health Couture collections wherein they infuse their products with beneficial ingredients such as the T5 Superfruit Complex

To refresh you, they are,

acai beautifying properties: antioxidant rich super fruit helps fight free radicals, promotes cell regeneration, has known anti-inflammatory and skin softening properties and combats premature signs of aging.
acerola cherry beautifying properties: helps restore skin’s clarity due to the high concentration of Vitamin C.
goji beautifying properties: contains anti-aging properties.
maracuja beautifying properties: soothes skin and acts as an anti-inflammatory.
–pomegranate beautifying properties: reduces inflammation and redness in skin and has been known to reduce wrinkles and regenerate skin cells

Beautynomics Under Medication

Apologies to my readers who were unable to find my site for a day or so already. An accidental glitch by my host caused this, and also, my spankin` pink theme was wiped out.

So, the way I feel? It’s like someone kept my HG full coverage mineral foundation and I have nothing to use in the morning. It’s like my eyeliner sealant lost that I can’t wear eyeliner without it. Most of all, it’s like my nails with nailpolish chipped and I can’t find my bottle of that color to fix my nails with.

So there, I am going to blog as if nothing happened until I fix this. Thank you for being patient with me! :)

The Beautynomist Goes to Makeup School!

At long last, my dream of going to makeup school has been fulfilled - last Friday, I was unable to sleep, all giddy, going back and forth to my room ( which I haven’t inhabited yet ) to check my makeup inventory, just because I was finally going to get formal schooling in makeup the next day.

Oh my next six Saturdays will surely be the time of my life!

Thanks to Sunsilk’s Life Can’t Wait Campaign, the dream of mine that I’ve been stalling for over two years now has finally been realized. I took the plunge, enrolled myself in Lasalle College International last April in Makeup Artistry as I prepared to be schooled. As the days drew near my first day, I was getting excited, giddy, and of course, having fears of screwing up. I’m the most nervous person on earth when it comes to failing. But this had to happen somehow.

Blue Water Day Spa Unveils New Endorsers

I don’t know if it’s just me, but looking at Piolo Pascual and Marian Rivera already relaxes me. Their sights just relax my mind. Hahaha!

Kidding aside, Blue Water Day Spa, last April 30, 2008, unveiled its new endorsers, the very hunky Piolo Pascual and the seductive siren Marian Rivera. They’re both the hottest TV stars to grace primetime TV nowadays, and well, they are surely the busiest in terms of schedules, considering their endless endorsements! ( If you are a TV fanatic like me, you’ll be so familiar with them you’d think they’re family! haha! )

Lipsticks Can Tell You If An Economy’s Doing Good, or Bad!

Did I say that Mac Fafi was just love? *sighs*

Move over GNP, GDP, and even Consumer Price Index! All I need is the lipstick sales of the Estee Lauder Group of Companies, and I shall tell you what the economy’s health is, right here, right now!

Oops, I was just plain kidding. But really, I’m not absolutely joking about it - because from an article I read last week from the New York Times, there is indeed a relationship between lipstick sales and an economy’s health - and it’s inversely related. Beauty companies have noticed that lipstick ( or lipwear - like gloss and lacquers for that matter ) sales had skyrocketed during economic downturns.

Nails of the Week : OPI Moon Over Mumbai

Sporting short nails lately!

I’ve been sporting short nails for summer for the reason that I’ve been “roughing it” lately - meaning going to the beach, being all low-maintenance because of the heat, and all that. But that doesn’t mean that my nails won’t get some pampering!

On my nails is one of OPI’s pretty shimmery gray shades called Moon Over Mumbai. It’s described as shimmery gray, but on my hands it seems to look like an almost transluscent white at two coats that glows. The microshimmers are almost unnoticeable unless you take a really close look at it, and with a very glossy topcoat like Poshe, it just looks like a shiny white.

Prescriptives Summer 2008 Collection : Urban Heat

Bronze glow. Earth tones. Azure and purple. Sun-kissed beauty. Lush lips. This is what Urban Heat by Prescriptives is all about. My, my, when I saw the picture, my eyes first checked out on how beautiful the eye makeup is - blue ( azure ) and gold is my favorite combo, and it just matches quite beautifully with bronzer and nude, but luscious looking lips!

Prescriptives’ Urban Heat Collection includes the new Colorscope Lip Gloss, limited edition Kohl Pencils, Colorscope Eye Colors, Colorscope Creamy Eye Colors ( as base ), Here To Stay 24 Hour Longwear, and Colorscope Lipwear.
