Last weekend as a relaxing one as I was given the chance just to laze around the house with nothing to do but rest. And when that happens, all the attention goes to my personal needs, specially my skin. There’s where I remembered that I had The Face Shop’s Sake Clarifying Body Scrub lying around in my drawer for 2 months already.

Formulated with Sake this luxurious body line clarifies and hydrates skin while calming the senses. Its sensational Sake scent releases tension and invigorates an exhausted body and soul.

This cream type body scrub contains extra soft grain granules (like apricot seed sesame seed rice bran etc) to gently remove dead skin cells. Gentle enough for frequent use.

I remember getting this while I was shopping in Robinson’s Galleria two months ago with nothing to do, as I checked out The Face Shop. Alot of girls have been raving about their products, and I wasn’t just too game to try out their skin care or make up – so what safer way to test products than body care?

The Sake Clarifying Gel Scrub promises to purify and hydrate the skin at the same time, as it exfoliates rough skin for a smoother and clearer complexion. Sake is a popular wine in Japan as it is also has benefits to the drinker/user such as metabolism and purging ( from skin problems ). Well, my skin’s badly burnt from the sun, and I’m acne prone. Let’s see what this can do!

Well, at first scrub, I noticed that this was different from all the scrubs that I have tried. It had both cleansing beads ( transparent gels ) that are really really soft and non-intrusive and really small apricot seeds. I don’t know what I felt when I first slathered some scrub on my skin but it felt like soft oatmeal! Teehee. It didn’t feel like it was scrub-material, and I was afraid that it won’t do its job. Well, I still went on and scrubbed, scrubbed, including my harassed feet that had been walking so much and all dry. All these old skin have to go!

After this, I just let my skin dry and I was waiting for results. Well, I was actually surprised that the skin by my knees were flaking already ( since I had a tan last time I went sunbathing in Bohol ), as were my elbows. I was pleasantly surprised that even with the gentle scrub I used, it was actually doing its job in exfoliation. So there, gentle scrub and exfoliation – painless job well done! My only issue is that yes, it indeed purified my skin, made it a whole lot squeaky cleaner, even the remnants of my blister seemed to fade away by 50% already ( by day three ), I could not deny that I needed to moisturize my skin with body lotion after the scrubbing sessions – or else my skin would be squeaky clean, but dry.

Overall? I love this scrub because it is indeed gentle enough for everyday use, I don’t feel a single “abrasive-ness” in this product, and I know it works great in getting rid of old skin. It’s a great way to welcome new skin, but I’m definitely arming myself with a great body lotion to maintain my just-new skin to make it soft and smooth!

Any Face Shop addicts out there? What would you recommend me to try?
