Last December, my dermatologist was seeking to speed up my oily skin - open pore - horrible microcomedone problem, as she suggested if I wanted to try Clenziderm. Clenziderm’s OBAGI’s new skin care line targetted for acne-prone skin. I’ve heard great, and not-so-great about Nu Derm OBAGI products ( the blue line ), with some getting amazing results with it, and some having disappointing results. It was a risk, to try this product, but was well worth the try because I seriously need my skin to get better anyhow.

I was able to find a great deal in Amazon, for a set that costs only about $84. A set includes a cleanser, a toner ( Pore Therapy ) and a Serum Gel to treat acne. Not too expensive considering Nu Derm OBAGI costs for about $200?

Some technical beauty info about Clenziderm,

Obagi CLENZIderm M.D.â„¢ includes a new, liquified form of benzoyl peroxide that is 1/10,000 the size of any other benzoyl peroxide available.

< -This fact, I love. Hahahaha

CLENZIderm M.D.™ systems are clinically proven to penetrate more effectively than leading prescription benzoyl peroxide products.* As a result, this Rx-strength treatment instantly penetrates the pores and begins reducing acne below the skin’s surface, providing a clearer complexion in as early as 2 weeks.

Product Information :

Daily Care Foaming Cleanser

Removes dirt and excess oil with 2% salicylic acid, leaving skin clean and refreshed.

* Salicylic Acid gently washes away dead skin cells to reveal healthier skin
* Menthol cools and calms irritated skin

Pore Therapy
Unclogs pores and clears dead skin cells while preparing skin to deeply absorb a liquified serum that targets acne at its source.

* 2% Salicylic Acid eliminates residue on the skin and minimizes blemishes

Serum Gel
Potent gel turns to liquid serum on contact. Delivers liquified benzoyl peroxide deep within your pores where acne starts. Quickly clears acne and prevents new breakouts from occurring.

I was seriously impressed when I googled for reviews about Clenziderm, as I was very very excited to try it. My shipment from Los Angeles arrived yesterday as I got really excited to go home, and try it firsthand. I carefully read the instructions, and well, as dinner time was done, I immediately went to the bathroom to wash my face! Haha!

My initial review on this ( and expect followup reviews, if I get to continue using this ), is that for the facial wash, it left a really minty feeling in my face as I really felt my skin squeaky clean. And knowing me, I love, love mint so it is a winner in my book. I’m a little bit dismayed by the 10-15 minute allowance before applying Pore Therapy because I don’t really have the time in the world, but I managed to wait as I feel my skin still minty. Pore Therapy smells sweet and heavenly, and still tingly, and it dries out in my cotton ball pretty fast - I hope I don’t run out of this soon. The Serum Gel on the other hand doesn’t feel like anything minty, and is my least favorite step since it doesnt feel minty ( so biased ), but they say it is the most effective one in the bunch ( because of the liquefied benzoyl peroxide that gets in the skin ) . Maybe deal with it. Haha!

Today is day two, and I don’t feel any irritation in my skin. Perhaps my skin is just like an oil mine and non-sensitive that I just don’t feel anything bad at all ( the pamphlet says minor tingling and irritation MAY occur ). Although, I feel, in the next few days, I would be whipping up my moisturizers to compensate for the dryness brought about by me using the Clenzidermsystem. I’ve also seen that my blackheads are slowly purging , surfacing, as other pores are looking finer than yesterday, and my skin isn’t as oily as before. My blemishes flattened, and look dry. I just hope that my skin really improves in a week or so, and well,

You shall hear from me then regarding this!

Tata!

P.S. I don’t really suggest this to be used by people who have very sensitive skin and mild acne. This is for people who have severe acne, or microcomedone problems. :)

But I do have a problem in the pores of my face… its visible now… :( can you recommend any other product that I can try to reduce it? I recently tried neutrogena alcohol free toner… you think that would do it?

thanks… btw the obagi really cost expensive especially the one that you mentioned hehe I think lucy torress uses it… :) i’ve read a few articles about it… even bryanboy.com uses that..

Good luck with the Clenziderm! I bought a set for myself via eBay (hope I get it without problems…) after hours of agonizing whether or not I should try it. We’ll see what happens :)

I just wanted to share my opinion, I know it’s late but I just read your review and wanted to comment. I’m a 20 year old female who works in a dermatology office. Last summer my parents and I spent about…300+ dollars on Asthera Laser Treatments and Silk Peels (which were nice, and somewhat effective), however, when I came home from school this summer my coworker suggested I try this new product we were about to stock instead (clenziderm). We talked with the drug rep and she agreed to give us a kit for free as long as my coworker took pictures of my face every two weeks to document the results for our office. Let me just tell you after two weeks my results we phenomenal! What’s more is that comparing the after photos of my 6 laser and peel treatments, with my after photos of the two weeks of Clenziderm… the Clenziderm won hands down. The main reason I wanted to post is because you suggest that this would not be good for sensitive skin, but I wanted to note that I have incredibly sensitive skin, as well as keratosis pilaris on my cheeks (makes them inflamed easily) but this system is not too harsh! I really suggest trying it!
