As part of my from-now-to-eternity vow to take care of my eyes ( believe me, my eyes have been scratch-free for weeks now ), my eyes are now now spoiled with luxuriously moisturizing eye creams day and night, as well as them being left unscratched, or un-rubbed as much as possible. With the promise of gentle pressure to be applied when dealing with the eye area, I thought about the activity that I usually indulge in by the end of the day – that is, remove my makeup, particularly my eye makeup.

Last year was such a colorful year for me, and my eyes. For me in the sense that I was able to explore new opportunities and gain new friends ( mineral makeup addicts aylovyow! ), for my eyes in such a way that I’ve gone out of my comfort zone and started being highly experimental with eye makeup. Foiling vibrant hues of red, bronze, plum, and even blue! And yes, it is quite a challenge to remove by the end of the day.

My usual remove-my-makeup routine is that I apply a layer of Cetaphil on my face, and wipe away with tissue, and repeat, and wash my face with facial cleansing gel afterwards. There are still remnants of eye makeup after that but the toner does its job by removing it. I must admit that there is rubbing involved , using the cotton ball because eye makeup can be quite a challenge to remove. So there, I am just about to introduce to you all the product that really, really relieved my eyes of that extra pressure : Lancome Effacil Gentle Eye Makeup Remover.

A refreshing liquid that instantly removes eye makeup with no greasy after-feel.

The above description of the Lancome Gentle Eye Makeup Remover is what I’ve read on the label. Well, let’s see if it’s as refreshing and non-greasy as it claims, and most of all, if it is indeed a great eye makeup remover!

First, when I opened the bottle, the scent made me reminisce about the good ‘ol baby oil. Very therapeutic since I remember that mom used to apply on me baby oil when I was a baby. So , yeah, the scent is indeed, pleasant, and somewhat refreshing. With the scent of oil, I feared that it was oil. I tried to feel the product in my fingers, and I was surprised that it didn’t feel oily at all – it was liquid, almost water in consistency. Overall, it is pleasant for me. I actually like the consistency because I’m not crazy about creams and oils too much. Really.

Next, of course, comes the test on how great this can remove eye makeup. I tried this two times to make sure I push the product to the limits – first, with me using a regular eye primer, second, with me using MAC Paintpot as my primer.

With the first scenario, I was beyond stunned. Upon swiping the cotton ball with the Lancome Eye Makeup Remover, it was like magic that my eye makeup disappeared in an instant! Read this : with minimal , minimal pressure. Unbelievable. It was just so easy!

With the second scenario, well , it was pretty difficult because MAC Paintpot sticks like Mighty Bond on the eyelids. I mean, it doesn’t budge all day long! So, it took me two swipes to actually remove eye makeup with me having the MAC Paintpot as my eye primer.

Another scenario ( optional ) might include waterproof eyeliners. Waterproof eyeliners would get off quite easily, but ones with eyeliner sealants might be a little bit tricky, such as mineral eyeliners mixed with the foolproof Bare Escentuals Weather Everything Liner Sealer. A cotton bud or Q-tip can be used to gently, and carefully remove the eyeliner.

Overall, I’m quite satisfied with my new product find. Lancome Effacil Gentle Eye Makeup Removerearns my two thumbs up. Sold for about $21, it is already a great buy since it’d last you a long time ( 125 ml for the eyes is ALOT! ). So, I’m quite satisfied with myself too that I have really stayed true to my promise to take care of my eyes! Yipee!

Is it available locally? Haha, I’ve been looking for a decent non-tug eye makeup remover…I’m still stuck with cold cream. :D
