I’ve been addicted to L’Oreal Elseve hair products ever since they’ve landed here in Manila. I mean, wow. It’s the reason that my Kerastase Oleo Relax Masque is still half-full that I would be able to save it for more special occasions ( teehee ).
A reader requested me to review the Elseve Color-Vive line, which is the red variant of Elseve. I’d like to review first, the Elseve Color-Vive Protecting Conditioner. It’s the tall conditioner that is to be used everyday.
At the back of the bottle, it says :
Elseve Color Vive : Hair is protected for visibly prolonged color, frequent washing, sun, pollution : your colored hair is exposed to permanent external aggressions. To help protect your hair, Loreal Paris, the worldwide No.1 in haircolor has created new Elseve Color-Vive protecting conditioner.
L’Oreal is one, if not the frontrunner in terms of hair styling products and hair products , and with Elseve, it boasts of the Light Reflecting System in this line that has a UV filter, which further helps protect the hair from external aggressions and potential damage.
When we color our hair, it’s like we agree to carry chemicals in our body, specifically the hair. Of course, hair coloring is a great, great way to get a new look, perhaps a makeover, that can enhance our features more. But chemicals, are chemicals. When chemicals are exposed to heat and the sun, they react that causes the hair to fry and get damaged. Therefore, we need all the protection we can get - and that includes maintaining our healthy hair as well as maintaining the brilliance of our hair.
My hair’s constantly hair colored because of my fixed hair DNA, so I’m always on the lookout to make my hair shine like the morning sun ( heard that from a movie? haha! ). I like my hair straight, and ultra-glossy.
I’d like to say that the Color Vive Shampoo gave me great results as it made my hair instantly shine after my first wash, as I feasted over the amazing glossy hair I achieved with it. I immediately called my best friend who was shopping at the mall and asked her to buy more Color Vive for me, namely the conditioner and the masque.
Upon trying the conditioner, I like it that it made my hair manageable. It was light and a little bit watery in consistency, so it made me squeeze just a little more product. The result was good - it delivered great results on what was expected from the Color Vive line, but knowing me, and my long hair, I would really want some value for my money. That explains my obsession with hair masques. I prefer using hair masques as conditioners for they bring 2 to 3 times the result, and they’re less runny in consistency for they’re like thick creams.
The Color Vive Hair Masque is thicker in consistency, so the bottomline of my review is that, I’d very much recommend everyone to get masques instead and use them as conditioners everyday. Just use a small amount, and it’ll sure go a long way. Way longer than the Color Vive Conditioner.

Hi sophie! where could i buy the l’oreal elseve products?
Thanks for the buzz!
Hi Zhandra!
All Watsons outlets
oh gosh! i just tried elseve intense smooth range. i so loved my hair after the first wash!
I’ve tried the L’oreal anti-breakage shampoo(cuz I read the review here that it’s good),and I like the way that I can easily comb through my hair after that. So,after a month,I ran out of the shampoo, and off I went to Watson’s to buy s’more.Unluckily, the only available was the L’oreal Elseve Intensive smooth shampoo,so in desperation (hehe),I bought it.But no regrets there!Even without conditioner, my hair really feels soft, smooth, and manageable.(nyak, endorser daw noh.)
Denise : Glad you love it! I’m amazed by how it works wonders on my hair, too.
I like the Anti-breakage better and the Color Vive better than the Intensive Smooth though ( in terms of shampoo )
Mai : Yay!
So are we Elseve converts already?

is it ok to use the anti-breakage shampoo on x-tenso treated hair? or should i use another type of l’oreal shampoo for maintaining my hair? thanks!!!
Hi superkala :
Definitely, since chemically treated hair is more prone to breakage
