Beautynomics Best of 2007

Wow, time flies, and it’s almost 2008! In the name of beauty blogging, this year’s been a good year to me.

Beautynomics achieved some nice bits this year! Got nominated in the Philippine Blog Awards, got featured in Manila Bulletin, and even earned a few seconds’ air time in The Today Show!

Quite optimistic next year for more beauty blogging, but let’s all look back to the best posts of 2007! Well, I think I’ve done alot of product reviews - and I’m glad it made me discover alot of beauty products this year! Let’s hope for a great 2008, too!

Take time to check out my best posts :

Merry Christmas From Beautynomics!

To my dear readers,

First of all, let me greet everyone a Merry Merry Merry Christmas! I hope everyone’s beautiful and happy this Christmas, and …can you feel the warmth? Haha ! Yes, despite the chill, there is a warmth overflow out there because of the love that everyone just radiates. Amazing :) I hope everyone’s gotten a chance to stop, take a break, and breathe some fresh air and celebrate Christ’s birthday! :)

Second, my apologies for being so quiet lately. I’ve been experiencing a burnout from work a few weeks ago, so when the Holidays came, my body just chose to shut down for a few days. My skin broke out ( the biggest blow, I think ), and I needed tons of beauty rest, and rest for my spirit as well. Currently recharging, and I will be beauty blogging in no time ;)

Take care, everyone!

Love Love Love,

Sophie aka Juliet :)

A Trip To The Dermatologist, Again

My new friends!

I think that I’ve learned my lesson. Well. It’s going to be a New Year’s Resolution for me to visit the dermatologist every month. AND I MEAN EVERY MONTH!

Way back last July, I was happy with my face. And my dermatologist. She would tell me that it would be at least one cycle for the skin, which was three months, to reveal younger, better looking skin as long as it was well-maintained , and cleaned ( by the dermatologist ).

Well, I sinned. In the name of beauty. After July, I didn’t show up until this December! My schedule pretty much hindered me from visiting my dermatologist even if she was just a few streets away from me, and when I started breaking out just last week, to the point that I was already depressed over them. Shallow as it may seem, hey, I live for beauty. I was telling my dermatologist, “Look at me, look at me” with such a helpless face, and her explanation to me was,

Get Minty, Soft Lips With Aveeno Lip Balm

Lately, I’ve been craving everything minty. Minty on my back - relaxes my soul, minty on my breath - makes me feel fresh, minty body washes - sends chills even if it’s very cold now, and of course, why not get some mint in my lips? Exactly!

With the cold weather now, my lips have been in danger of chapping again. And you know how I don’t like moisturizing. I don’t know, just not my thing, but hafta do it. I tried Aveeno Intense Relief Medicated Therapy, and well, I was just wowed. Continue reading

Who Doesn’t Need To Perm Her Hair?

I just wanted to share something about my day!

This girl was one of my clients during the Mineral Makeup Weekend.

The conversation went like this,

Me : Hey , nice curls.
Her : Thank you it’s natural.
Me : Are you serious? No perm?
Her : No, I got it from my grandma.
Me : Are you absolutely serious that you have that naturally gloriously goldilocks hair?
Her : Yes, I tried to use hair iron to straighten it before.
Me : With a hair like that, DO NOT USE HAIR IRON!

Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Sleep Collection

I’ve never appreciated sleep, until now.

When I was in college, I would not sleep due to my competitive and achievment-hungry genes, and I thought I was fine. I still looked fine.

With my age right now ( a little bit over twenty ), I’ve managed to abuse my body again with overworking as I said I would promise to relax as soon I have my goals realized.

Boy, oh boy, I was wrong. I thought that I can evade sleep forever. And now, it’s taken its toll.

I would hate myself in the morning as I look at myself in the mirror after a sleepless night. Dull skin complexion. Eyebags. Nooo. Now, I know, now, I know, and I’m gonna be a good girl, and sleep, sleep, sleep. Continue reading

I Heart Holiday Nails !

It just didn’t feel right one cold, November day when I tried to swipe my favorite pink nail polish on my nails. My hands looked too pale. I realized, hey, this is what people are talking about when they talk about dark polish shades for the Holidays, that gives some warmth to the hands and make the hands look muy elegante and alabaster-pretty.

Clean and Clear Morning Burst Oil Control Sheets

Oil blotting papers just save the day. I have long ago accepted defeat , that my oil glands are just way out of control. Good thing that there are heaven sent stuff such as oil blotting papers to save the day, that I can just quietly slip into the ladies’ room and go back to the party looking fresh and grease-less.

My current favorite? Clean and Clear Morning Burst Oil Control Sheets. They absorb oil at-first-blot ( or rather , at first contact ), no need to rub the sheet to your skin that may ruin your makeup, just blot, blot, blot. Heck you can just make it fly and land on your face and play with it! Haha!

This is such a staple for party season. Whee!

Undereye Woes, and Kanebo’s Sensai Cellular Performance Eye Contour Cream

The most demanding time of the year for business people would have to be December. As they try to catch up with the extraordinary demand of the consumers for shopping gifts, they also get deprived in the sleeping department. One classic example - me.

I’ve decided to take mineral makeup more seriously as I’ve signed up for bazaars, and spent my weekends to promote and sell mineral makeup here. Very gratifying. Despite my lack of sleep the night before, adrenalin rush just gets me so high that I am more than giddy to do everyone makeovers. By the end of the day, I am so drained, and exhausted, that I cannot help but fall asleep in an instant. This has been going on for two straight weeks already, and I have two more to go. I didn’t know that it would take its toll on….my eyes!!!!

One Monday morning after my bazaar, I felt that I couldn’t totally open my eyes. Or my eyes opened, but they were just too tired to be open for so long. Upon checking my eyes in the mirror - GASP. I saw bags. Eyebags! and they seemed heavy. That must be the heavy feeling. Goodness gracious - I FREAKED OUT! Nawwwrrrr!! I am so not having horrible eye bags!!! My life is gonna be ovarrrr!!!! ( Yes, that is me hysterical )
