Nails of the Week : For Audrey by China Glaze

I remember a month ago, that I was endlessly lemming for the gorgeous, classy, yet unconventional shade of For Audrey, China Glaze’s limited edition shade to pay homage to the absolutely timeless fashion icon Audrey Hepburn. When I first saw the shade, I immediately felt that it was not the “usual” shade that I’d normally wear - my safe shades are sheer whites and pinks, and blue was just - so out there! Despite that, I was smitten with the unique kind of blue that reminded me of the packaging of Tiffany, the jewelry store. I’ve never worn any blue polish before, so this was a first.

Watsons Transforms Into The Ultimate Health & Beauty Wonderland!

I used to hate going to SM Mall of Asia because it’s undeniably huge - I can get lost there and never be able to find my way home ( haha! ) - but going to Watson’s is INDEED a different thing. It’s not the usual Watson’s that we’ve come to get used to for our necessities and simple toiletries - it is way way beyond that now! It has just transformed into the ultimate health & beauty wonderland, and Beautynomics was there for a sneak peak of its new look!

We got in!

Is it just me, or Watsons has gone from mass market to semi-high end? The new roster of brands are really impressive - alot of people would be very thankful for this move! More pictures ,after the jump!

Beauty Trends for This Year’s Emmys

This year’s Emmys, I really hope, would turn out the way that they’re saying - with the looks of the stars being “real” and all. I have yet to prove, until we’ve seen it, but if it goes well, alot of people would be inspired to “keep it real” as well. ( and I would stop staring at the Katherine Heigl’s perfect red carpet hair and makeup, again. )

This year, Olay, the official skin care partner for the Emmys, has teamed up with Bruce Grayson, the Makeup Department Head for the 2007 Primetime Emmys. Here’s what he’s got to say about the trends to be expected in this year’s awards,

The Emmys Theme: Keeping it Real!
The Emmys are taking on a whole new look this year. The stage is like
theater in the round and with Idol Ryan Seacrest hosting, it really has
a reality show element. Makeup will reflect that “looking real” style
without appearing over-done.

Ali Larter To Sport a “Real” Hairstyle for the Emmy’s

I admit to being one of those girls who would idolize, and dream about sporting hair and makeup worn by Hollywood stars. I do, I really do. Somehow, self esteem goes down as you just find out that the looks are not too attainable. ( well, at least for me! )

Did you know that it often takes at least two hair stylists, and hours and hours of sitting down the styling chair , curling irons, salon wedges, flat irons, and hot rollers to get those absolutely stunning looks on the red carpet? Ugh, that didn’t sound comfortable! Continue reading

Watson’s Undergoes Makeover, Sports New Brands!

Watson’s must be the one-stop shop for toiletries and beauty products. Whenever I’d be too lazy to get in the department store to check out products, I would just take a stroll inside Watson’s for simply put, it has everything I need!

But then, it would be having everything I want, too! Continue reading

The Beautynomist’s Hair Rebonding Experience

Mirror mirror, on the wall, who’s got the thickest hair, of them all?

Guilty. I have such thick hair ( I got it from my dad ), that it would have been just glorious if it were shiny black, and bouncy, just like the models that are shown on TV commercials. Even if it is unhealthy to want to look like a model, I am somehow obsessed with their hair. Downside is, my hair is naturally frizzy. Well, just can’t have them all.

Or can’t I?

Last year was the best year of my life as I had my hair rebonded at Tony & Jackey, a Korean salon located in Manila ( Malate, to be exact ). Koreans are well known for their expertise in styling hair, and I was really happy with Kenny’s job in doing my hair last year. My thick, puffy hair was transformed into sleek, shiny long hair, and he just had this technique of making my hair thin ( the layers were shorter “inside” than on the exterior ). It was amazing. Kenny had to go back to Korea for a surgery and never went back - it definitely left his clients devastated. Continue reading

Thalia Comes Up With a Beauty Book

Who can ever forget Thalia? The gorgeous Mexican telenovela superstar and recording artist, and known for her worldwide hit telenovela Marimar ( yeah, I watched it way back and she was still 17 then! ). The beautiful Thalia earns my envy as she has a killer waist, and she uses mayonnaise as her beauty secret to keep the hair soft and shiny.

Smashbox Decadence Vanity Brush Collection

When I have gotten hold of Smashbox’s Master Class Eye Makeup Set, I immediately fell in love with Smashbox’s brushes. They’re made of animal hair and yet they’re very soft, and are very precise in application - just like MAC’s.

Imagine what happened to my eyes when I saw this set sold at the Sephora website,

This is the ultra-luxurious Smashbox Decadence Vanity Brush Collection. Isn’t it a beauty?
