I admit, since last year, I have been majorly addicted to go to the beach. My problems are gone for a few days, the stress is surely left behind, and the beach just means one thing to me – total paradise. Even if I’m not in the beach, my mind has been swimming with beach tunes. Oh drat, help me get out of this mirage in the desert!
I’ve also been addicted to get a beautiful tan everytime I go to the beach – thus, my occasional sunbathing tendencies. It’s scorching hot, and I could feel my skin baked, toasted, or what, but nothing beats the golden glow that I achieve from the sun!
Or does it come with a price? Melanoma, anyone?
I just received a Press Release from the people who handle skin care brand Skinceuticals and learned that Melanoma isn’t a matter to be taken lightly. Here are some facts:
· The incidence of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, is rising faster than that of any other cancer.
· One person dies every hour from skin cancer, primarily melanoma.
· When detected in the early stages, survival rate is nearly 99%.
WHAATT? That is heck of a scary thing! Oh my gosh! Good thing that I always have my sunblock with me but admittedly, I don’t apply it religiously in my everydays.
I’ve just known that May is Melanoma May – a month full of awareness campaigns about the skin disease melanoma, with full help from the American Academy of Dermatology. Malignant Melanoma is no laughing matter – it may lead to skin cancer. Cancer is a serious condition that must be combatted at the first signs. With that, we must take extra steps of precaution for our self preservation.
Skin care cult favorite Skinceuticals has come up with three limited edition sunscreens, which proceeds will go to the Skin Cancer Foundation for more funds for research about melanoma.
These three limited products are as follows :
SkinCeuticals AFFECT Daily SPF 20 – Optimal for daily use, contains 5% transparent Zinc Oxide to help protect against UVA and UVB rays. This cosmetically elegant and moisturizing sunscreen is ideal for all skin types and can be applied under makeup. Fragrance, paba and oil free. $30
· SkinCeuticals AFFECT Physical SPF 30 – Optimal for sensitive, traumatized and post-treatment skin, this cosmetically elegant all-physical sunscreen contains non-irritating 5% transparent Zinc Oxide (Z-COTE®) and 10% Titanium Dioxide. Ideal for daily use, this true broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen features a dispersion technology that minimizes the “whitening†effect found in other all-physical sunscreens. $35
· SkinCeuticals AFFECT Ultimate SPF 30 – This true broad-spectrum sunscreen contains 7% transparent zinc oxide to help protect against UVA and UVB rays. Cosmetically elegant and moisturizing, it is ideal for daily use and perfect for high altitude locations. $35
Now with that, I’m convinced to get one for myself. Maybe in the future, we could have a skin cancer free world with enough research. Gosh, I really really want to enjoy my days in the sun, and I’ve just realized that I should take applying my sunblock seriously. Support Melanoma May!
