Once, some salesperson for skin care told me that all I needed was the skin care set that she was selling was all that I needed, and I didn’t even need the dermatologist to cure my skin condition. My skin’s full of open pores, and they breathe in dirt everyday. Comedonal acne, as they say that was. Anyway, I followed her advice and went on. My skin cleared up, but I could stil feel some bumps on my face. I was not so satisfied.
Then, one day, I decided then and there to go to the dermatologist and have my skin checked. My dermatologist turned out to be a very simple – she has no complicated skin care methods or even complicated procedures. She simply believed in healthy eating, sleeping earlier, keeping your hair away from your face, and so forth. Her first procedure on me was a facial – she cleaned my face and pricked away the stubborn deep-seated whiteheads that I couldn’t remove. After that, I felt clean! I bought the skin care that she prescribed, and tried it for about a month. After a month, I was not satisfied with her skin care, and felt that my old brand was so much better – it felt way cleaner since it was all water based, and at one instance wherein I ran out of her skin care set because I was too busy working that I didn’t have the time to visit her, I reached for my remaining Nu Skin products at home. To my surprise, my skin improved drastically after using Nu Skin for a week. I really, really don’t understand my skin for sometimes it just “gets tired” of some product after giving miraculous results for a week! It has a tendency to get immune on products, I guess.
Well, my trip back to the dermatologist made me so enlightened. I told her that my skin improved via my old skin care brand, and I wish she respected my choice to stick with it because what she recommended broke my skin out. She asked me if I was ready was a facial, and boy , I really was ready and expecting for one because I could feel some bumps under my skin on my jaw area. After the painful pricking, and the sight of the lancet that I saw that she was gonna use on me. Oh God, I actually told her, “Please, do not make me see that!” She laughed at me, and I closed my eyes as she did acne surgery on me. Ouch, ouch, ouch!
Well after that, she prescribed to me clindamycin again, and commented on how my skin improved already, and the comedones that she saw were on my jaw area, and significantly decreased. She told me that my skin would be okay in about two days. Cool! I’m so happy about that. I went home with a happy face ( but a wounded one! Haha! )
So, I got thinking, did I really need a dermatologist given that I have a great skin care brand to start with? Some people would say that they don’t need dermatologists. Maybe their pores are closed. Maybe they don’t have stuff that needs dermatologists to work on. For women like me who have open pores, dermatologists are a must. We are preys for deep seated dirt, and everyday dirt on our skin. Even if you have poreless skin, there is also some danger that deap seated dirt cannot be removed from your skin even if you squeeze em out ( Eeew? Squeeze? ) They’d be scarred for life, and you wouldn’t want to do that – so there, the dermatologist’s purpose! We need them alright?
Anyway, watch out for the Nu Skin Promo’s I’ve recently found out thanks to Lorraine! Gosh, with friends like her, my wallet needs to be replenished every single second! Lol! Tata for now!

I never had dermatologist check-ups, because I have pore-less skin, but I went to see one once when I had a problem on my feet.I really think that people like me need them more, because we get scared easy (exactly as you said). So, I need them alright and the topic you proposed here is very interesting.
