NARS Mata Hari , and Mata Hari, the Woman.

nars mata hari So, okay, here’s my Saturday night story. I was doing some overtime work til 10 pm ( sob, I cancelled my night out with my galfriends ), and I was ready for bed at around 12 midnight, and as I was surfing through the channels on TV, I saw this black and white movie, just about to start. Mata Hari. Wow. Then I remembered, this was a NARS shade! It’s a medium pink blush, that’s very matte, but leaves a very naturally pretty pink flush ( a little bit bright but it just pulls off quite perfectly ) to the face, and I was wondering why they’d name the shade that is Asian. I also saw a Mata Hari stall at the mall which sold dried delicacies, so I couldn’t find the connection. Okay, going back to the movie, the title that flashed on my TV screen intrigued me, and the actress who portrayed Mata Hari intrigued me more- Greta Garbo, one of the most beautiful and successful movie stars of all time. So okay, I think bedtime was a little bit postponed because I decided to watch the movie. Continue reading

A Pinch and A Glow - Holiday Blush Special

laura mercier blush Makeup addicts need some support group - either to stop this insane but extremely satisfying addiction,or…maybe, JUSTIFY their addictions! Hahaha! Well, I’m no exception! I’ve recently met a makeup lover, turned friend, Tracy, and we just love talking about our favorite subject! I’ve asked her to be guest blogger today, and I’m glad that she accepted my request!Well, I’m sure you’ll love her entry for today! It’s all about blushes for the Holidays!

Here it is!

A PINCH AND A GLOW

by Tracy

I’ve always been partial to pinks and rosy flushes on the apples of my cheeks; contrary to popular makeup belief that bronzers look good on everyone, I’m convinced that they generally do nothing but make my fair skin look plain muddy (with a few exceptions, which I will mention in this article as well). For this reason, I always wear the light and rosy shades that just make me look young and childlike. Continue reading

Cold, Cold Beauty!

winter lookOkay, as promised last night, I am now attempting to write about makeup during Christmas time ( now, look who’s excited? I’ve been excited since September! Sheesh! ). The wind is cold and dry, and the chilly weather feels wonderful! Bronzers might be out for some, and are adopting this kind of beautiful, fairy-like look, and I’m looking forward to see more fairies around this season! Then truly, I would feel like I am in Winter Wonderland *smiles* ( and we don’t have winter here! hahaha! )

When Bronzers are Out…?

bronzer I remember going home back from Bora all bronzed up, the first time my pale skin was basked under the sun in a span of seven years ( well, all I can say is that I’m going to the beach on an annual basis now! ), and bronzer was the best way to accentuate my features, giving me that sun-kissed, gorgeous glow. I even saw my picture with my shoulders all gleamed up with bronze beauty, and I just absolutely loved it. My buddy Jacqe has been hitting the beach for more than twenty times this year, and until now, her skin is still somewhat bronzey ( I wonder when it’d turn pale again? ) Continue reading

MAC 187 Stippling Brush

mac 187 brushIf I were to choose a precious Christmas gift, this brush would be it. I have been debating with myself whether I should get this or not, because I am somewhat satisfied with my kabuki brushes here at home. And yet, the raves that I have been reading about in various forums and review sites are much too loud to turn a deaf ear to. Some claim that it is their Holy Grail Brush, and this tool helps their foundations, liquid or dry, glide in effortlessly perfect on their skin, making it look totally airbrushed. Some have ignored the hefty price tag associated with this brush because of the impressive quality. But still, some are quite hesitant - what if it wouldn’t work on them? Thus, they are looking for some alternatives which are more lower-priced. Continue reading

The Evolution of Beauty

My friend Katrina shared this video to me, and I was really astonished on how beauty can be manipulated in front of your PC! The best part was the neck manipulation. Shucks, I could have a long neck if I wanted too! Lol! Anyway, check out this video! Neato.

Watching this, I feel that I’m not so bad at all ( considering I have my low days sometimes ), since I got my PC and me! Hahaha! Kidding! Tata for now!

My Mineral Makeup Class Last Weekend!

Last weekend was a blast ! I finally learned how to make mineral makeup. It’s exciting, and I hope to formulate something great soon! I’ve been playing with my minerals ( raw ingredients ) and my coffee grinder like a Chemistry student in the lab ( complete with dust mask and surgical gloves LOL! ), and it’s never been more fun! I’ve found my place in the sun!

I’m cross linking my entry from The Mineral Makeup Blog. View it here!

Update : My first try of making a foundation for myself was a success. Though the coverage and staying power are still to be adjusted just the way I like it, I immediately got my shade on the first try! Not bad!

Tata for now!

My Hair Rebonding Experience

rebondingI had my hair rebonded last week. I’m so glad my hair is in its manageable state again! I had my hair rebonded last year, and I so loved it because it really eliminated all my frizzies, and made my hair a whole lot manageable. The effect wanes off after a year, and when my mom told me, “Juliet, your hair is ballooning again ( Hmph! She has such perfect hair and I don’t! )”, I got half of my paycheck, and went with my cuz Cristine to Tony and Jackey, a salon with Koreans as stylists ( love Korean stylists ). My hair was done by Kenny, and some staff there. Continue reading

Aromaleigh Pure Shine Lipgloss

aromaleigh lipgloss
When I requested for samples from Aromaleigh for my Mineral Makeup Blog, I was only expecting baggies for a week’s worth of roadtesting to be able to test on how it works, and how great it is. Little did I expect that they would give me lip products, and I’m glad they did, because I am currently so smitten with their Pure Shine Lipglosses! ( I am always tempted with lip products! puckers up! )

According to their site, Pure Shine Lipglosses are described as,

20 semi-sheer, juicy glossy shades to match your every mood.

Moisture-binding botanicals such as aloe, monoi de tahiti, olive oil, rosehip oil, and apricot kernel oil give your lips a continuous source of moisture while jojoba-based polymers bring on the shine.

My Magic in a Bottle - Evian!

evian I’d just love to share my great love for Evian. It’s my makeup base right after my moisturizer ( or even if I’m too lazy to apply one for the day ), I use it to set my makeup, and it’s the one that I spray onto my face whenever I feel sleepy, or feeling icky because of a humid environment.

I know it’s just water, but something in it is magical. The water comes from one of the cleanest environments in the world -the French Alps, wherein Evian is the name of the village situated on the banks of Geneva. Whenever you say Evian, people would just feel that the water sprayed on their faces are like holy water ( or rather, very very special water! ) I’ve even told my baby sisters Sugar and Sunshine that this spray is a magic spray that whenever they feel sleepy, just spray it on their faces, and they’d feel magically awake for the rest of the day. Alas! It was 6am, and my sleep was disturbed from the noise of my baby sister Sunshine opening my drawer, reaching for my Evian spray, and spraying it on her face, just before she left for school! Haha , how cute! And really, she managed to stay awake for the rest of the day, which is so unlikely! Coolness! This is really psychological in their case. Haha! Continue reading
