Interning for Kerastase made me learn alot, specially about hair care. I’ve digested all the informative brochures and dossiers, learned alot from the very kind product manager and the nice training executive, and even loved my favorite brand more. When the Kerastase Institute here at Manila opened, I dragged my friends there to try their services. I’m ashamed to say that all I had there was a haircut, and I’ve never had a treatment done there. I’ve been totally dependent on my home products such as the Kerastase Oleo Relax set! I love it to pieces, but there is something about the Institute that is different. Their technology is the most advanced in the country with sophisticated tools and equipment that makes sure that the moisture and vitamins get straight to the hair core, not anywhere just surrounding the hair strand. (Yes, I’ve learned that, too! )
Anyway, there’s a new treatment at the Institute that I’ve been wanting to try, and will probably try already. It’s called Kerathermie. According to the Manila Bulletin website, the treatment is described as,
“Conditioners and frequent hot oil treatments can work, but, sometimes, they aren’t enough to prevent hair from becoming dull and brittle.
Kerastase introduces its latest treatment, Kerathermie, which is inspired by a Brazilian hair treatment called cauterization, which uses heat to destroy abnormal cells. This, combined with L’Oreal Advanced Research’s technologies, gave birth to a revolutionary care service. Kerathermie is a heat-activated, layered care treatment for progressive hair renewal. This new salon treatment helps nourish hair fiber, controls frizz, and renews hair to its original (or even more) suppleness and shine.”
Now, how does this work? First, they apply salon-exclusive product Kerastase Vita Ciment ( Yes, it sounds like cement, and works like cement! A damaged hair strand is uneven, and the vita ciment will fill in those unevenness in the hair to make it even, and healthy ) and Aqua Oleum ( to nourish the hair with moisture ) to your damp hair. Then, they apply heat to your hair via the flat iron clamp to seal the moisture.
Next, the Oleo Relax Masque is applied to your hair and left for 15 minutes. After that, hair is blow dried as texturizer is smoothened into the hair.
Further analysing this treatment, it is a mixture of sealing in moisture ( Aqua Oleum ), strength & repair ( Vita Ciment ), and de-frizzing ( Oleo Relax Masque ). I can say that I would not be able to achieve results similar to what I just do at home ( my weekly Oleo Relax Masque treatment ). Two of the products here are only used at salon and cannot be used at home ( Vita Ciment and Aqua Oleum ). This combination treatment makes me more convinced to go to the Kerastase Institute to have my hair done! Well, that is, after my rebonding session soon! The Kerathermie would be a best bet for those who had their hair chemically treated ( permed, straightened, rebonded, coloured ). Hair needs all the care that it needs, and I’m quite sure that Kerastase can handle your hair well! It’s like the best hair care brand on earth. I swear to it!
