My first dose of the Mall of Asia was so tiring! After bringing relatives from Hongkong for sight seeing here, it left my Sunday like I didn’t have a day off from work! But it’s all good, because I had the chance to enter the very beautifully designed beauty chain, Marionnaud! Such an array of beauty products always take my breath away. The renowned beauty brand Becca is there, and I was laughing as my dad was handed a Becca product brochure by my baby sister. Haha! The baby sister had taste after all!
Anyway, I was in such a lipgloss mood because of my recent rave for Guerlain lipgloss ( review, to follow ), and I have read so much rave reviews about Estee Lauder High Gloss. I asked the saleslady for an Estee Lauder High Gloss, and she pointed to me something that didn’t look like the one I saw on the internet. Well, I thought she meant that that lipgloss would give me a high gloss. It turned out to be the Pure Pops Brush-On Color in Berry Twist, since High Gloss isn’t available here yet.
Estee Lauder Pure Pops Brush-On Color, is described, according to the Estee Lauder website, as,
“Brush with brilliance.
Sweet pops of jelly-sheer gloss you gleam on with one quick brushstroke.
Fresh, fruit-scented shades give you no-mess shine anytime. Fun to collect, fun to carry.
Unique brush applicator turns tube into a lip styling tool for precise application wherever you go.
Meet the newest pop stars. “
While checking out the shade in Berry Twist, it looked sort of medium pink in the tube. Then and there,I decided to check it out. I removed my lipgloss, and tried this on. The color looked very sheer on my lips, it was almost semi-opaque, unlike other lipglosses that gave really opaque, solid colors like Mac and Guerlain. I had the mistake of touching my lip, and when my fingers left my upper lip, the color disappeard and it looked like my lip had an empty area without gloss-it seemed runny! I was getting a little bit disappointed, but thanked the sales lady for being accommodating, as I told her that I’ll walk around to “roadtest” this lipgloss.
Okay, so I went to Starbucks with my mom for coffee since she was getting tired of walking. While sipping our lattes, I got my compact mirror and started staring at my lips. They looked good. Lusciously good. The color was very sheer, and my lips looked very natural. Did I like it? Sort of. I’m the sort of girl who wants megawatt shiny sexy lips, and I want alot of color! Solid color! So, maybe, in a way, I was not too into it, but I’m open to using this certain lipgloss on my “light and lazy” days, when I’m not too dressed to kill ! Haha!
Overall, I’m not too thrilled about this lipgloss, but I see the beauty in it. This is definitely for simple girls who do not want too much color and just want a “faint sheen” on their lips. Girls who want to take advantage of the gloss it provides must arm themselves with a well lip-lined lip and a layer of lipstick so that when the gloss comes off when they start eating, there is still color on the lips, and it would not look like the lips were stripped of color. ( a horrible sight! Haha! )
Well, tata for now!
