plane beautyMy spirits are a little bit low right now because my favorite friends, Katherine and Diana, are leaving for Beijing tomorrow to study Mandarin, and they’d be away for six months. It’s the end of an era. No more crazy Saturday night outs with Katherine, no more secret-sharing and vain bonding with Diana. A teary-eyed me promised them that I’d visit them next year, and tried to be happy for them for endless opportunities lie ahead in the Sleeping Giant. Sigh, I needed something to remember them by as the empty days lie ahead! ( Movie trivia : This line, I got from Confessions of a Drama Queen, because I am in a drama mood! ). So, this entry is dedicated to the travelling beauties whose flight is on 9:30 a.m ( tomorrow )., but are required to be in the airport by 5:30 a.m. How crazy is that? The airport’s really strict now with airplane passengers, and of course, handbag contents. So, here are some suggestions to have an “efficient” but compact vanity kit as you board in the plane!

1. First, if it’s a short flight, wear light, natural makeup. Spray long-lasting eau de parfum if you don’t like “respraying” in the plane, which will not be allowed , too ( no liquids, remember? ), and moisturize body well with lotion.

2. If you just can’t quite help it to bring perfume and lotion with you, bring solids- perfume balm/stick, and lotion bars would help alot.

3. For your makeup kit, on the other hand, get a moisturizing lipstick that acts like a lipgloss. I remember Katherine wearing her Clinique moisturizing lipstick during wedding we attended that really looked so glossy. I remembered that when I read Carla, Product Girl’s entry about lipsticks that act like lipgloss.

3. If you’re a chap-lipped prone gal like me, better make it a point to pack up a nice lipbalm like Aloe Lips by Forever Living.

4. A stick concealer would save the day!

4. Go with pressed instead of liquid/gel! After all, the pressure might wreak havoc with your liquid friends!

Pressed Minerals are here ! Try Urban Apothecary’s Supernatural Mineral Sheer Radiance! Not only will it blur out imperfections, it’ll give you the glow of a jetsetter!

Well, your vanity essentials inside your handbag for travelling is just like packing your handbag for any night out- retouching. For longer flights, it would be more useful, and you’d get to appreciate your vanity essentials more when your makeup wears out, and you need to come out of the plane impossibly fresh and beautiful!

Bon voyage to my great friends Katherine and Diana, and to all the travellers out there!

Unforetunately I want to say that even things like lipbalm are not ok on flights… but I’m not entirely sure about that.
