I had the time of my life last week when my best bud and I went makeup shopping at the local mall. I haven’t seen her for a long time, and I was more than thrilled to help her shop for makeup, as well as catch up on each other’s lives. When we chanced upon Mario Badescu products, she was exclaiming on how the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion dried her zits overnight and how a wonder product it is. I was listening intently, hopelessly trying to resist my temptation to buy the product since I’ve just had purchases from Guerlain, the Body Shop, and Zara. Darn, that was my scarce resource for the day! Money!
I was asking the sales assistant if the famed Drying Lotion can zap out even comedonal acne ( layman’s term : tons of whiteheads, no inflammation ), and she was saying, “I guess so.” My best bud, outraged with her answers and her reluctance to accommodate our queries said, “don’t bother, it won’t work in that case, and she clearly doesn’t know what she’s talking about.” so we avoided that sales assistant as much as possible.
So, was it buhbye for Mario Badescu Products? Not really. Another sales assistant was kind enough to assist us without qualms, and armed with a smiling face. That’s more like it. She even gave us goodie bags full of Mario Badescu samples even if we didn’t make the purchase ! Sweet!
Now, I’m gonna do a review of their two products :
The Elasto-Seamollient Hand Cream
Researching at Mario Badescu’s website, the hand cream is described as ,
“A unique formulation of protective Seamollient and nourishing Vitamin E makes this thick, rich hand cream perfect for frequently washed hands. Also includes Peanut Oil to hydrate and moisturize dry hands.” 4 oz for $8.00
I was amazed by the hefty sample they gave of the hand cream. I never used a hand cream before since I’m a little bit of a lotion phobic gal. Haha! ( Well, face ya fear, girl, you need to LOVE lotion before you hit thirty! ) Well, after taking a shower, I applied it on my hands, and I felt it wasn’t really greasy. Good. The scent? It was tolerable. I could not explain the smell. It wasn’t feminine, it wasn’t masculine as well. Not fruity. Not floral. Unisexual. So, I’m indifferent with the smell since I can’t even identify the scent! It’s not so strong so it didn’t matter anyway, and people who hate fragrances would love this. ( if you know what I mean ). I didn’t really notice the effect on me until I woke up the next day. My hands were very soft! Woohoo! Meaning, it’s good enough! To give my final point, it’s not too light, yet not too heavy. But my soft hands were proof enough that this really gives great results! This will make me want to add hand creams to my nightly regimen!
Apricot Super Rich Body Lotion
According to the Mario Badescu website, the product is described as,
“Our delicately scented, non-greasy body lotion moisturizes dry skin and leaves the skin feeling smooth and soft while leaving behind a luscious Apricot scent.”
Well, the moment I sniffed this lotion, I was alarmed by the strong scent. It was achingly sweet, candyish, even. It was sweet sweet apricot. Okay, I’m getting scared. When I squeezed some product from the bottle ( a small bottle, that is ), it was so thick! Okay, I’m freaking out. Do I hate this product? Not really. When I applied it on my legs, surprisingly, it didn’t feel greasy as I have expected. Whew. The effect was actually very nice! My legs were more moisturized, and looked not too dry for the night. This lotion is perfect for those who have extremely dry skin and loves sweet, fruity scents, ala Body Shop Body Butter. On a personal note, I’m still lotion phobic, so I might need a lighter one, with a lighter scent.
I haven’t roadtested their other products such as the facial wash, and facial moisturizers. I’ll write an entry as soon as I get to try them! Tata for now!
