My Smokey Eye Obsession

mischa barton

Checking out Mischa Barton’s look at the Teen Choice Awards made me fall in love with the smokey eye makeup all over again. Hers was done in a very clean, “subtle smoke” , but very sexy way. I love it! Continue reading

Haircuts Can Help Save the Environment

haircutIf you’re living in the Philippines, and you want to have a haircut, better make it quick. Within the week, perhaps? Because this is your chance to save the environment! Sounds weird? This has pure logic, I promise.

Apparently, there is a nasty oil spill at the waters of the Guimaras Island. Oil spills are really nasty because they kill the marine ecosystem. It’s sad to see fishes die, and water getting dirty. It’s such a shame, too, since Guimaras is a wonderful island full of breathtaking tourist and surfing spots. Here are some shots of the beautiful Guimaras Island :

Lipbalms of Interest!

I guess I can’t be blamed for liking lipbalms ,since I am tremendously influenced by my lipbalm addict of a sister. I’m not really after the shades that lipbalms give because I prefer colorless ones, I’m more after the moisturizing effect because my lips tend to chap all the time. Blame it on the weather! ( Or me, and my bad habits? hehe ).

Lipbalms, through time, have progressively offered more and more flavors. When I was a kid, there was strawberry, and other fruit-inspired ones. During my teens, a pleasant vanilla flavor greeted me. And now…flavors have become more radical, deriving inspiration from junk food. Yes, junk food.

Which kind of junk food? Chocolate and Peanut Butter? Yummy! Check out Hershey’s and Reese’s lipbalm/gloss.

New Stuff I’m Trying Out : Virgin Coconut Oil

virgin coconut oilThis week, I have tried several new “rituals” for myself, one of them, is leaning towards Virgin Coconut Oil. Virgin Coconut Oil, as compared to normal coconut oil, is a “fresher” kind because it’s cold pressed. Coconut, when processed into oil, undergoes processes which involves heat, and loses some of its essential nutrients. Virgin Coconut Oil, on the other hand, is cold-pressed, so everything good is kept there. Numerous benefits include faster metabolism, weight loss, lower cholesterol levels, clearer and more supple skin, and great moisturized hair. The benefits are endless! I’m astounded.

I’ve been influenced by my good friend Althea of Musebay, one of my sister sites, into checking out Virgin Coconut Oil. She claimed that it made her skin alot better, and she hasn’ t had any zit formed ever since she used this as her toner of some sorts. I told her the smell is too strong for me to tolerate, so the skin care part of VCO, I still have to pass! But I’ve been curious! So… I’ve been drinking Virgin Coconut Oil capsules twice a day. I couldn’t stand the smell, but I’ve been told that this was a natural way to lose weight! As for me..I always want to lose weight! Haha!

Earth Therapeutics Anti-Stress Pillow Mist

earth therapeutics anti stress pillow mist

Are you stressed? Do you go home, after school, or work tired? I guess everyone deserves to get a good night’s sleep at the end of a taxing and grueling day. Sleep is the ultimate luxury one cannot buy - or can we?

The Earth Therapeutics Anti-Stress Pillow Mist would do, just that - it will indulge you with the most relaxed state of mind possible, as you drift to dreamland.

Why do I equate stress with sleep? Because one of the effects of stress, is that you can’t sleep at night , no matter how tired you are. I experience that - my back aches horribly after work, and sometimes if I’m unlucky, I get migraine. ( water therapy and Advil, please ), thus, no matter how I long for sleep, I just couldn’t - because of stress. Continue reading

The Philosophy Schoolbook

philosophy schoolbook I think our beauty-related consciousness started the moment we hit puberty. Psychologically, we are wishing that we would blossom into beautiful men or women, that we are lured by countless products in the market that promise to beautify and keep us on the right track to our goal. Physically, hormones rage, and this is the stage wherein some of us develop acne, or other skin problems, so we need all the help we can get. Continue reading
