Would you?

keira knightley

The most gorgeous smokey eye I’ve ever seen.

Seach the whole world wide web for her pictures and all you see are glam, smooth-faced pictures of the gorgeous Keira. But she admitted a long time ago that she had a severe case of acne, and she is seeing a dermatologist for this. It was told that it takes four hours to perfect for makeup. Airbrush makeup. Wow. Perhaps Hollywood stars are human after all!

That’s an ounce of hope given to the league of acne-problemized humans. Sigh, sigh, and super sigh.

Acne is one of the most plaguing skin care problems up to date. Estimatedly 1 out of 16 men and women in America ( approximately 17 million ) have acne. It doesn’t only cause physical unpleasantries such as bumps, comedones, redness caused by inflammation, and scars, it also further scars the psychological aspect of the person. Some go even crazy with acne. I was kidding. I mean, it really really affects people in such a way, that their confidence level is definitely lower, there is a strong tendency to be antisocial because of the fear of the criticisms that they’d get, and really, it’s sad, sometimes, it ruins you.

Yes, it can break you.

Thus, the overgrowth of Acne relief/cure products such as Proactiv, Obagi, and countless others. It’s an unending cycle of trying products until you know what’s right, and sometimes, it tends to get frustrating! Ahh!

With this reality that we’re faced in, we need to know what to do in order to prevent or control acne. Here are some tips for an acne-free face, courtesy of moi ;)

  • Your diet and lifestyle.

Even if it is still highly debatable if the food we’re ingesting causes acne, it’s still better safe than sorry. Everyone knows that fatty and oily foods makes skin oily, and aggravates acne. So it’s better to steer away from those and eat healthy.

Water in our diet is one important factor. Drinking 8 glasses of water a day is crucial because it is extremely helpful, speeding up the cleansing and detoxifying process of the body. Fruit, and vegetable juices are good, too, as long as they’re fresh.

Just a tip : Carrot juice is an excellent blood cleanser, and drinking it a few times a day would help clarify the skin.

Sleeping early, and trying not to be stressed all the time would help, too. Stress, causes inflammation. So don’t blame the wind if zits start to pop up when you have had a sleepless night.

  • Vitamins

Aside from your dermatologist’s prescription, vitamins are also said to aid in curing acne. Among these vitamins are :

Vitamin A, helps control sebum production. So it’s good.

Vitamin B was once believed to be an acne cure, that high doses were suggested to rid of the acne. But did you ever hear that too much of everything is bad? Yes, if the vitamins are too much for your body to bear, it just flushes it out.

Zinc is also considered as one of the vitamins that aid acne treatment. It helps heal blemishes and reduces inflammation. Some people respond to this well, while some don’t.

Vitamin E is a wonderful one. It makes you youthful, and gives you great skin.

But all of these vitamins are not exact cures for acne, they simply aid acne treatments. They should be taken, for they wouldn’t work alone.

  • Natural Skin Care

Aside from the commercial products, which I recommend too, there are also generic ones that can be bought over the counter. Witch hazel is an excellent toner for acne prone skin and benzoyl peroxide is a good spot treatment. There are numerous natural skin care products that can help alleviate acne.

  • Mineral Makeup

Mineral makeup gives an airbrush makeup look. And to add up to the benefits, it is extremely friendly to acne prone skin as it doesn’t aggravate or clog pores. Some even claim that one of the causes of their healed acne is mineral makeup! What more can you ask, a beautiful concealed face like you never had acne in the first place, as well as a skin-friendly makeup! Fab. :)

  • Well, there ya go. I hope we’re all enlightened so far on what to do. At least I didn’t lead someone to rush to the mall now!  If you have acne, and you want it all gone, you have a chance to act. Now!

    Tata! :)
