As an avid watcher of American Idol that I am, here is my girl version of my previous entry, The Wonders of Makeover! - Clay Aiken. Whom am I choosing for my girlie version? None other than the McPheever, dazzling Katharine McPhee.
Why? Well, I was about to choose Kelly Clarkson, who has had a drastic improvement as well, but I like her with natural makeup more. That’s another entry! haha
You might wonder why I picked Katharine McPhee. Well, she is pretty to start with, but her face, was pretty bare when she first auditioned for American Idol. I am further pointing out the wonders of makeup, in this particular entry.
Take a look at her before pictures ( a progressive transformation )

Yes, good eyebrows, high cheekbones, but she’s way too pale, and her face has got no definition at all. Overall verdict : she has a lovely face, but it simply had no hint of color, of life, and of sun! Her “assets”, or her lovely features, weren’t emphasized enough, so she does not “maximize” her potential. No optimality there, yet.
I was actually quite excited when she got in the auditions because there’s so much to improve on her looks , and I’m betting that she’d get the proper makeover that would turn her into a sexy and gorgeous diva. Well , her after pictures proved me right, :

The necessary changes were as follows :
1. Eyebrows - more definition. Do you see that highlighter applied on her brow bone? Really helps.
2. Eyes - more intense, and dramatic via the smokey eye makeup ( and other pearly shades ) , eyelining, and curling the lashes and mascara application. I love her lashes! ( if ever they were false, they still look great! )
3. Cheeks - her lovely cheekbones were further emphasized by a blush on with some glow , or a blush on with a glow enhancer topped. Do you see the picture that she looked like she had cheek tint on? I think bronzers on her cheeks or brown shades of blush for her look WAY better. Simply complements her skintone.
4. Nose - Looks well-defined. Gentle strokes of bronzer made her nose look smaller.
5.Lips - those luscious lips were given the shiniest of all gloss, vavavoom! High gloss lipwear fit her the best.
6. Hair - Her hair, was initially straight-okay. But I actually love seeing her hair in loose curls or waves. Very alluring, and it gave her more stage power, and maturity. She doesn’t look old with curls, she just looks all “composed” and elegant.
4. Overall - I think bronzer was slightly applied to make her less pale. It further gives her a very healthy glow.
I am simply pushing my idea ( haha! ) that makeup can simply do wonders for women. It shouldn’t be underestimated. Why was makeup ever invented for, if it wouldn’t make this world a better place? It simply brings back the confidence back to people ( women, and men ) , allowing them to feel good about themselves, and do their best in everything they do. That is what makeup does to people.
For the girls out there who want to have their own makeover, here are some tips :
1. Eyebrows : Have them waxed/ undergo threading by a pro ( salon ). Even if you want them thick and gamine-like, they still need to be properly shaped. Brow hair can’t go flying everywhere.
2. Complexion : If you think that you are too pale, applying bronzer would be a great way to bring the health back to your face. Of course, nothing beats the natural way of exposing yourself to the sun, but remember to use SPF!
3. Lips : Chapped lips aren’t attractive at all. Apply lipbalm everyday with added SPF. Matte lipsticks often “age” someone, so to retain youthfulness, go for lipgloss. Those shiny ones! They’re soo sassy!
4. Hair : Well, why not be experimental for once and ask your favorite stylist to do whatever she wants with your hair? Of course, you should really, really trust her! haha!
You can try rebonding, perming, or just play around with the curling or straightening iron to try out the looks you want to achieve.
5. Face : Well, this is for skin care, but I might as well say it because good makeup needs a smooth face base. Exfoliate at least twice a week to scrub off uneven patches, and dead skin cells to reveal smooth, new skin, for a good makeup application.
Okay, I’ll go back to my Katharine talk…haha! If you check out her picture below, you don’t want her to look like that again - strolling around with her boyfriend Nick Cokas, you can compare what look on Katharine you prefer!

With Katharine’s amazing sultry voice, and her impressive makeover, I’m sure that she would be a very prominent artist in the music industry. She reminds me of Linda Rondstandt, and I think she can sang well the song “Someone To Watch Over Me”. I was just disappointed that she didn’t show up for the first part of the American Idol tour. Let’s just hope that she gets well soon enough to please and thank her fans for voting for and supporting her, that made her go that far on American Idol.

The stylists enhanced Kat’s natural beauty, as you state. A lot of people would look great if they had stylists at their disposal.
I also think Kat wears fake eylelashes.
She definitely improved during the course of the show. She’s beautiful!
she looks stunning with curly hair!
